About
John Leszczynski (b. 1987) writes contemporary concert music.
Recently, the United States Navy Band premiered Scherzo a la Britten, and performed it across the U.S. on their national tour. An international consortium of thirty saxophonists has commissioned a new piece for soprano saxophone and piano to be performed a number of times during the 2011-12 season. Another commission from the DC-based Inscape Chamber Orchestra will be premiered in early 2012. The U.S. Navy Band is recording Scherzo a la Britten for a CD to be released this summer, and Jeff Vickers will be recording Obsidian Butterfly for a CD to be released in the fall.
In 2010, John graduated from Indiana University with Bachelor’s Degrees in Composition and Saxophone performance where he received the Dean’s Prize for composition. He is currently studying for a Master’s Degree in Composition at the University of Maryland, where he also teaches undergraduate classes in musicianship.
